Over the weekend, Linda was accused by a number of people of constantly plagiarizing and lifting articles from websites without giving credit to original sources.
After
series of accusations of plagiarism, for the first time in eight years, popular
blogger Linda Ikeji’s
blog has been shut down.
The
blog was shut down today, October 8, 2014 – it is still unclear why this
happened. The blog's url now redirects to an empty page which reads ‘Blog has
been removed’.
Fans
have taken to Twitter to express their shock, tweeting at the popular blogger
about the development.
The
shutdown might however be temporary as the blogger has responded, calming
fears;
‘Linda Ikeji Blog will be back in a
bit...biko bear with me...:-)’, she tweeted
Linda’s
blog which was still active this morning had published about 23 stories before
it was shut down at about 4:20PM.
Over
the weekend, Linda was accused by a number of people of constantly plagiarizing
and lifting articles from websites without giving credit to original sources.
She
however responded in a statement published on her blog, explaining that she was
just being targeted by a group of cyber squatters who had been trying to shut
her down for over a year.
Linda
is of the opinion that just like herself, every other website ‘in the world’
lifts content also.
‘I admit that I take content from other
sites. Plenty of it sef, but the question is, which website in the world
doesn't?’, she wrote.
Linda
Ikeji’s blog is currently the 10th most visited website in Nigeria according to
commercial web traffic data company Alexa.
