Members
of the #BringBackOurGirls group are set to march to Aso Villa today, October
14, to meet with President Goodluck Jonathan
As
part of the Global Week
of Action by the #BringBackOurGirls
group, the members are set to march to the Presidential Villa in Aso Rock to meet with President Goodluck Jonathan.
The
group has said that it has sought audience with the president after requesting
an appointment with him.
A
statement signed the group’s Media Coordinator, Mr. Rotimi Olawale reads:
“#BringBackOurGirls Abuja family wishes to notify members
of the public that we have requested for an appointment, and will be marching
to meet with our President on Tuesday (today) October 14.
“The objective of our march to the Villa is to convey the
urgency for the immediate rescue of our girls and to hear directly from our
President and the Commander in Chief of our Armed Forces the accurate status of
the rescue effort for our Chibok Girls, whose six months in captivity remains a
source of deep anguish to their parents, Nigerians and people all over the
world, who believe in our shared humanity.
“The last 180 days have been one of dashed hopes, intense
pain, and confusion for the families due to the lack of accurate information
from government on the current status of rescue operation.
“The march will be joined by some of the parents of the
abducted girls, as we continue to stand in solidarity with the abducted 219
girls and their families.”
The
over 200 girls were kidnapped from their school in Chibok, Borno on April
14.
