Vacancy for the Vice President position. This is the information that the
People’s Democratic Party (PDP) is quick to point out to Nigerians when rumours
were making grounds that President Goodluck Jonathan was making plans to drop
Arc. Namadi Sambo as his running mate for the 2015 General Elections and pick
someone more progressive.
The
party has decried attempts by some members of the opposition to suggest a rift
between the President and the Vice President before next year’s general
election that there has not been a better partnership than the one displayed by
the two public leaders.
On
Saturday at the PDP Zonal rally in Lagos State, the Party Chairman of Lagos
State – Capt. Tunji Shelle re-echoed the fact that both men are having one of
the best times collaborating together. He said there was a growing
understanding exemplified by both leaders as the party approaches the elections
next year.
The
Party has expressed bold satisfaction with the amicable relationship between
the Number 1 and Number 2 men in the country. A statement by the National
Secretary of the PDP, Olisa Metuh today restated what he described as the
overwhelming confidence and support that the Vice President has from both the
President and from the National leadership of the party.
He
stated that “there is no doubt whatsoever that the Vice President has implicit
confidence of the President and that the PDP is therefore very pleased that
they are working together in actualizing the transformation agenda to the
popular acclaim of both Nigerians and the International Community.”
He
said further that “we (PDP members) wish to place on record as well that the 66th
NEC meeting of our great party, which endorsed President Jonathan as the sole
candidate of the PDP for the 2015 general elections, responsibly reasoned and
anchored this decision on the outstanding performance of the Jonathan
Presidency of which Vice President Sambo is an integral part of
