Despite
reports to the contrary, the Nigerian
Medical Association (NMA) has not suspended its ongoing strike.
Reports
had it yesterday that the doctors had stopped the industrial action to handle
the incursion of the Ebola disease into Nigeria. However
the Secretary-General
of the NMA, Adewumni
Alayaki, has stated that the strike is far from over.
He
said:
"The strike continues until the
federal government brings back an appropriate proposal to solve the industrial
conflict,"
The
nation's public sector doctors have been on strike for the past 5 weeks and
they have voiced their intention to continue the action until their demands are
met.
