Adeboye
says the convention is meant for those who were thirsty for divine help
The
62nd convention of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) kicked off with
the theme “Holy Spirit” on Monday and the ordination of 8,000 deacons and
deaconesses.
The
convention is being held at the Redemption Camp on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.
In
the opening address which was given by RCCG’s general overseer, Enoch Adeboye,
the Holy Spirit was described as the divine helper. continue...
He
said the convention was meant for those who were thirsty for divine help.
“The convention is specifically meant for those who are
tired of their present state and those who know that things can be a lot better
if only help can come in their direction.
“It is for this purpose that I really want to encourage
seriousness at this year’s convention.
“Make up your mind not to miss the visitation of the Holy
Spirit and present yourself at every meeting with payers and expectation.
“Keep the camp holy and clean so as not to grieve the
Holy Spirit and observe all rules.
“You will return home with help and counsel that will
make you a new person,” he said.
The
week-long programme continues on Tuesday with the ordination of Assistant
Pastors as well as seminars and plenaries.
Some
changes in hierarchy were announced yesterday as two members of the council
were announced for retirement with two other pastors replacing them.
The
information was read in a statement made by the head of Media and Public
Relations, Segun Adegbiji, who also announced that more ministers have been
added to the church’s governing council and 7 new special assistants to the
general overseer has been chosen making them a total of 19.
