Here is what happened. The Coveted “Next Rated” Award at the Headies was given to Reekado Banks of The Supreme Mavin Dynasty, but Olamide, head of the YBNL label was not very happy that the award did not go to his artist, Lil Kesh.
In an effort to express his dissatisfaction, Olamide escorted another of his Artists’ Adekunle Gold who won the Best Alternative Song Award, to the stage to accept his award. While on stage, Lil Kesh prostrated for Olamide who took the mic and said, “Let’s be honest, this award belongs to Lil Kesh, because Lil Kesh is our own Next Rated artist. F**k that shit!…. The streets ti take over. Every f**king single was a hit back to back. From lyrically to Shoki to Efejoku. Ko ni dafun Iya anybody”, before dropping the mic and walking off the stage.
The Drama did not end there, Don Jazzy responded by saying “Egbon Olamide, if you want the car, come and collect it.” while accepting his Special Recognition Award at the Headies which he did to defend his artist, Reekado Banks who won the award.
What Olamide Should Be Very Afraid Of.
Olamide at the top of his game, the success is much expected as he has worked hard
to be where he is right now. The recognition started from Young Erikina
produced by I.D. Olamide moved on from there to deliver hits after hits.
To every successful artist there would be time when you feel that you are
unstoppable and nobody can touch you. We are all human, after success after
success, what's next?! Latest Olamide rant at headies prompt me to write this
article. I have said it before, Olamide is a 2pac wanna be but people forget
who the real 2pac is and 2pac background.
When you rap about street, goons (as if you've got on real goon), and other
things relating to street does that make you street? The answer is no!
You are not street, your fans are street wanna be because they don't know
what the street really like. There are millions of young boys and girls growing
up that want to be street, they will follow you. Having that much follower,
we give you boost. The real street will know and recognise you. The will never
follow you. Yes you will make money ( like Rick Ross) but don't forget still
you are not street. You are street wanna be with loads of fans that are street
wanna be.
Things will start getting out of hands when you start to act like a real street.
Don't do it Olamide, be yourself. A street ni**a will not act like you acted
on that stage. Kanye West is never street that is why he acted childish on the
stage. Again when you curse everybody on that stage, real street ni**ga will not
do that live. There is a way things get sorted out on the street, you need to
roll with real street ni**ga and learn or just be yourself.
One thing Olamide should be scared of is Nigerian version of Kendrick Lamar.
Yes, M.I is good but M.I has been relaxing. A Nigerian version of Kendrick
is coming, the guy can't sing but is a rap beast. The guy is not street but
he is hook with real street ni*ga. Olamide is like Drake, he can sing good and
he can rap good. To be honest, he is the king of the scene at the moment.
If M.I wasn't relaxing too much, maybe he would have being the king but
not that guy is relaxing (MI got mad skills).
For Don Jazzy, I wouldn't say much but the best right now is to keep quiet and
let the music do the talking. I'm not supporting Don Jazzy in anyway, he made
mistake by mentioning Olamide's name, however, a real street would have mentioned
name as no name is feeding him. Don Jazzy is not street but there might be street
in him.
When people start yelling vulgar language you called them street... Ok...
Like Olamide says 'Ko ni da fun ya anybody'! Go follow me on twitter as I'm
now street cursing all of your mama.
