Lagos Schools Are Not Resuming Tomorrow But October 8th, 2014 – Fashola

Lagos State Government have decided to heed the warnings of the Nigerian Union of Teachers (NUT) to postpone School resumption date in the State which was originally scheduled for tomorrow the 22nd of September to October 8th, 2014

This was made known today at a Stakeholder’s forum held this evening at the Lagos Television Blue Roof, Agidingbi, Ikeja. The Governor, Babatunde Raji Fashola stated that that all private and public schools in Lagos State will now resume on October 8, 2014.

The Governor explained the reason behind the change of decision by his administration. He explained that the  date was shifted to allow for adequate distribution of Ebola preventive materials in schools across the state

This comes following the decision by some states to postpone school resumption dates to accommodate the demands of the National Union Teachers who requested that Ebola protection equipment/tools be provided for all primary and secondary schools in the country to help teachers prevent possible spread of the deadly virus.

It was gathered that the meeting was attended by head-teachers and principal of schools in the state and we now await the reaction of the Federal Government on this decision.
