Boko
Haram terrorists are said to have invaded a market in Monguno village, Borno
state in an attack that reportedly claimed 9 lives. Boko Haram has been credited with yet another attack in
Borno state
after armed militants invaded a market in Monguno village.
The
incident occurred yesterday, September 21, 2014 and 9 people are believed to
have lost their lives while 10 others were left injured.
Sources
told Vanguard that the terrorists arrived the market at about 3pm and pretended
to be customers after which they opened fire on the traders.
A
trader, Mallam Abubakar
Ali Monguno, reportedly said:
“When they stormed the market, they shot at my neighbour,
before proceeding to other shops as they were much selective in their
operations.”
A
security officer is also said to have confirmed the incident saying:
“Yes, some suspected members of Boko
Haram sect launched an attack on Monguno village market killing nine persons
and injuring about 10 others currently receiving treatment in one of the
treatment centres in the state.
“Already security operatives have been drafted to the
scene and normalcy has since been restored in the area.”
This
comes after the insurgents launched attacks on Ngom Market and Mainok Market, also in Borno.
