It
was a sad day in Kilanko area of Ilorin, Kwara state capital after a pastor
drowned in a flood during the heavy downpour which lasted for over 10 hours. continue..
Reports
say the pastor whose name is yet to be ascertained was a volunteer member of
his Community Development Association, and lost his life while creating pathway
for the water’s free flow in front of his house.
According
to residents in the area, the late pastor used to create water channels
whenever the downpour was heavy.
He
was reported to have slipped, fell into a gutter and was carried away by the
flood. There was no available help at the time of the incident.
A
search for the pastor began 30 minutes after the rains stopped when the
residents discovered he was missing and was found dead inside a gully about 500
metres from his house.
The
state Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Ajayi Okasanmi, confirmed the
incident.
Remains
of the deceased have been moved to the morgue at the University of Ilorin
Teaching Hospital (UITH).
