The
beloved star was found dead in his California home yesterday night after an
apparent suicide
Robin Williams is dead.
The
actor and comedian was found lifeless in his home in the Tiburon area of California.
The
cause of death has been named as suicide
by asphyxiation after police discovered him unconscious around
12 noon yesterday.
He
was known for his roles in movies such as "Mrs. Doubtfire," "Good Morning, Vietnam"
and "Jumanji,"
Williams
had been battling severe depression before he died. His wife issued a statement
saying:
"This morning, I lost my husband and my best friend,
while the world lost one of its most beloved artists and beautiful human
beings. I am utterly heartbroken.
On behalf of Robin's family, we are asking for
privacy during our time of profound grief. As he is remembered, it is our hope
that the focus will not be on Robin's death but on the countless moments of joy
and laughter he gave to millions."
