Prayers For Peace: LASU VC Conducts Coconut Ritual Ahead Of Convocation

Prayers For PeaceLASU VC Conducts Coconut Ritual Ahead Of Convocation

After a turbulent era of student unrest and academic staff strikes, LASU celebrates the return of peace with a Coconut Breaking ritual. Students and members of staff of the Lagos State University (LASU) have been urged to allow peace to reign as the 19th convocation ceremony of the institution draws near.

LASU Vice Chancellor, Prof. John Obafunwa, made the appeal at 2014 Coconut Breaking Festival to commemorate coming convocation ceremony scheduled to hold between  Wednesday August 6th and Thursday August 7th 2014.

“Now that peace has been restored to LASU, we must all join hands to move the university forward,” Obafunwa said. “The coconut breaking festival is an avenue to offer prayers for peace and progress in LASU.”

He noted progress could only occur where there is peace.
