Some
religious leaders in Liberia have claimed that the deadly Ebola virus is a
plague unleashed on the country by God “immoral acts” such as homosexuality. continue...
This
decision was reportedly reached in a meeting by various church leaders from the
Liberia Council of Churches (LCC) when they discussed "a spiritual
response" to the outbreak of Ebola, which has claimed no fewer than 900
lives across West Africa.
A
unanimous decision was reached by the church leaders who agreed that God is
angry with Liberia” and concluded Ebola has been sent “as a plague” on the
country.
A
statement which detailed the resolution says that: :“Liberians have to pray and seek God's forgiveness over
the corruption and immoral acts (such as homosexualism, etc.) that continue to
penetrate our society.”
“As Christians, we must repent and seek God's
forgiveness.”
The
council also called for a 3-day prayer and fast for Christians to seek God’s
face in stopping the deadly Ebola outbreak.
