Pastor, Gabriel Asaolu, was rounded up with a group of robbers who specialize
in stealing exotic cars and reselling them.
He
was arrested along with another robber, Alexander Abiodun, who was posing as an
Assistant Commissioner of Police. Asaolu,
a pastor of an undisclosed church in Ogun state was alleged to have stolen
exotic cars from Ogun and Lagos states.
While
confessing, Asaolu reportedly mentioned Abiodun’s name during interrogation as
one of his receivers which prompted the arrest of the fake Assistant
Commissioner of Police.
Speaking
on the arrest, police sources said: “When
asked if he was a policeman, he shook his head. Also, an unregistered Acura
Legend car suspected to have been stolen, was found in his residence.
During an earlier interrogation, Asaolu confessed that he
sold two stolen vehicles— a Mitsubuishi Montero SUV and a Toyota Avalon car— to
Abiodun. But only one of the vehicles was found in Abiodun’s residence while
the other was said to have been involved in an accident in Ondo State.”
