The
women of Gwoza have said that they are tired as the task of burying the dead
has been left to them
The town of Gwoza in Borno has been left desolate as
constant Boko Haram attacks have left many of the menfolk dead.
The
women of the town have now been left with the task of burying the dead as the
men who aren't dead have escaped the town for fear of being killed. continue..
A
large number of the community's residents were butchered by members of the
dreaded sect last week.
According
to a source who spoke to Sahara
Reporters:
“We are very fatigued,”,“We are almost resigned to fate
in our tedious and unusual work of burying scores of dead bodies that still
litter our town.”
A
second source said that the women had to bury the dead because “the men in our town and surrounding
towns have either been slaughtered or have fled for fear of being killed.”
She
further added that most of the residents left in the town were women, little
children and the elderly who were spared by the terrorists.
Boko
Haram has killed thousands of people in the North-East since the brutal insurgency
began.
