The
Economic and Financial Commission (EFCC) is currently investigating cases of
alleged corruption involving judicial officers, chairman of the commission,
Ibrahim Lamorde, has said.
Speaking
at a workshop on Reporting Economic Crimes, Lamorde said alleged corruption in
the judiciary was another area recieving attention, considering the importance
of the judiciary in justice delivery system. continue...
Lamorde,
who spoke through Osita Nwajah, said the commission was committed to bringing
the culprits of corruption to justice.
The
Commission has decided to help sanitise the system by investigating some of the
alleged cases of corruption involving high level judicial officers, he said.
The
EFCC boss said, although one of the judicial officers had dragged the
Commission to court to forestall further action, EFCC would not be distracted.
Lamorde
said policing of major entry and exit points in our country in the last two
years recorded seizure of huge sums of money, adding that some of the suspects
had been prosecuted and convicted.
The
EFCC is unwavering in its determined efforts to bring to logical conclusion,
many of the cases that it investigated in other sectors including pension and
oil subsidy cases, he added.
He
insisted that for the war against corruption to succeed, the people must be
willing to embrace the fight even as he appealed for the support of the media.
