This
comes after the World Health Organization and the Nigerian government approved
the use of experimental treatments
Nigeria is set to receive samples of an experimental drug
to treat the deadly Ebola disease today.
News
of the development was disclosed by the Minister
of Health, Onyebuchi Chukwu. The
drug, named “Nanosilver”,
is said to have been provided by a Nigerian in diaspora. Canada yesterday promised to send 800-1000 samples
of its own experimental drug to help battle the disease in Africa.
The
World Health
Organization said this week that the use of experimental drugs
for Ebola is ethical while the Nigerian government authorized the use of such
drugs yesterday.
